The Art of STAR

Creativity is essential to the STAR process. During the 10 days of STAR, participants continually explore new ways of expression: in their written work,  group work, individual sessions and in their creative projects.  For many STAR participants, the art room is central to their experience. Frequently, what cannot be captured in words can be conveyed powerfully through images. Within the safe space of the art room, participants explore aspects of their experience, both inner and outer, and evoke images of their past and desired future. Participants who have not touched a paintbrush in decades often find powerful and deeply personal images waiting to emerge once they begin this creative work. The images that emerge in the art room frequently expand the dialogue at STAR and generate new material for the participants to incorporate into their STAR experience.
