History of STAR

Barbara Findeisen, our President and Clinical Director, is the founder of The STAR Foundation. From early on, Barbara has been on a journey of self discovery. Her level of insight deepened as a result of her education at Stanford University, her professional career as a licensed therapist, and her own personal experiences, but she had always felt something was "missing".

In the mid-1970's Barbara participated in a STAR program and, following completion of the workshop, her life began to make sense in an entirely different way. She knew immediately that STAR was a very powerful process and that it could possibly provide the "missing link" for which she had been searching. In time, Barbara concluded that the STAR program was in fact the clinical piece needed to go beyond where traditional talk therapy had taken her and her clients. So, Barbara began leading her own STAR workshops.

Over the years, Barbara has made hundreds of changes, updates, enhancements, and refinements to the program to which she was introduced in the mid-70's, including the addition of numerous modalities. One of her most noteworthy contributions, for which she has been internationally recognized, has been to provide a means whereby clients could access and begin to heal their earliest wounds and patterns. No other program anywhere compares with this aspect of the STAR process. Another change was accomplished by adding a disproportionately large number of workshop staff in relation to the number of participants, thus assuring that each participant receives the individual attention and safety to undertake the life-changing work accomplished at STAR. Over the years, with Barbara at the helm, the STAR Foundation has positively impacted thousands of lives through the STAR Process.
